FFA hosts awards banquet

Sunday, May 31, 2015 — The memories and accomplishments of this year’s Susanville FFA were celebrated during the annual awards banquet May 14 at Jensen Hall.
With more than 350 members in attendance, the 2014-2015 FFA officers kicked off the evening with opening ceremonies followed by a tri-tip dinner, award presentations, a slide show, scholarship announcements and the installation of
 new officers.
This is a historic year for the chapter as the veterinarian science team — Lindsey Noggles, Courtney Jones and Ashley Miller won first place at state and will be competing at nationals in October, the first time a Susanville team will do so.

Commission rejects MOU with Trails Trust

Friday, May 29, 2015 — The Lassen County Transportation Commission turned down partnering with the Lassen Land and Trails Trust for a Memorandum of Understanding to aid them in the Active Transportation Program Grant Application Process.
During the May 11 meeting, the Lassen Land and Trails Trust submitted the MOU to partner with the commission since it does not have a master fund transfer agreement with the state of California; other than that they are able to apply for funds.
The Active Transportation Program offers state and federal funds for increasing biking and walking, increasing the safety for non-motorized road users, reducing greenhouse gases, enhancing public health, enhancing benefits for disadvantaged communities, according to the California Department of Transportation website.
