Doyle residents arrested on multiple drug charges

Wednesday, May 7 — Two Doyle residents were arrested Tuesday, May 6, after law enforcement agents conducted a traffic stop and found methamphetamine in the vehicle.

According to a press release from Kevin Jones, a captain at the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 4:45 p.m. a deputy, assisted by the California Highway Patrol, stopped a 2011 Chevy Camaro on Highway 395 at Red Rock Road.

The purpose of the stop was to execute a search warrant obtained by the Lassen County Narcotics Task Force for the Camaro as well as the owner of the vehicle, Christina Corona, 47, of Doyle, according to Jones.

Recreation authority approves pool site purchase

Wednesday, May 7, 2014 — After more than an hour of closed session discussions, the Honey Lake Valley Recreation Authority’s Governing Board voted 4-1 to approve the purchase the Credence High School property at 814 Cottage St. as the site of a community swimming pool at its Tuesday, May 6 meeting.

President Brian Wilson, Vice President Jim Chapman and board members David Meserve and Larry Wosick voted to approve the purchase. Board member Nicolas McBride voted no.

Three arrested in business burglary

Tuesday, May 6 — Three men were arrested in connection with a burglary of a Susanville business on Monday, May 5.

At approximately 9 a.m. Susanville police officers responded to the store on Main Street on a reported burglary that had just occurred. Officers were advised three suspects had fled the store with a shopping cart full of stolen items valued at approximately $290 and employees were pursuing them on foot.

A sheriff’s deputy located and detained James Dilley, 18, of Susanville, at Riverside Park. Dilley was taken into custody and booked into the Lassen County Jail for second-degree burglary and possession of a controlled substance. He was being held on a $30,000 bail.

Be aware of phone scams

Tuesday, May 6 — The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office has been receiving an abundance of calls for service relating to identity theft, particularly a scam targeting local residents telling them they have won a large amount of money.

According to a press release, an individual claiming to be affiliated with Publisher’s Clearing House calls the listener and says he or she has won money but in order to receive the winnings, they must send a sum of money and several Green Dot cards to a specific location.

The sheriff’s office advises the public to not send any money to any organization before first checking its legitimacy. If the public should have any questions or concerns, they can call the sheriff’s office at 257-6121.

We enjoy living in Susanville and deeply care for this community. I want to continue devoting my time and expertise to preserving and improving our city as a great place to live and raise families.
