BLM plans pile burning project at north Eagle Lake

Fire crews from the Bureau of Land Management plan to burn piles of brush and juniper limbs during a two-day burn, beginning Tuesday, Dec. 2, near the Stones Bengard community at the north shore of Eagle Lake, about 30 miles north of Susanville.

Burn piles will be ignited only when weather allows for safe and successful burning and smoke management. Smoke will be visible from north shore communities, County Road A-1 and State Highway 139.

The piles were created during juniper thinning projects designed to improve wildlife habitat and reduce wildfire danger.
