Full 90 percent containment on the Dodge Fire
Friday, Aug. 14, 2015 — The Dodge Fire, named for the nearby Dodge Reservoir, started at approximately 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3. The fire is burning approximately 17 miles northeast of Ravendale, in sagebrush, grass and juniper trees in a remote part of Lassen County. Investigators have confirmed that a spark from a tree-harvesting saw was the cause of the fire.
In addition to mop-up, crews will continue to rehab and seed the dozer line around the perimeter of the fire. This rehab work is crucial for watershed purposes and to bring the landscape back to its original condition.
Firefighter safety is a priority and fire behavior changes will be monitored as warming temperatures and lower humidity are expected, as well as continued winds through Friday morning, Aug. 14.Add a comment
