March 2, 2010 — This week’s edition of the paper is jam-packed with all kinds of interesting items, from the ramping up of local school sports in the playoffs to a heated letters to the editor section, there are a number of sections designed to peak the reader’s interest this week.
Every week we try to bring the most relevant news from around the county to our readers, and sometimes there is an overabundance of news to bring. Sometimes we like to try out new things as well, such as this week’s edition of the top five symphony reviews from Lassen High School’s honors English program.
Feb. 23, 2010 — It’s hard to keep up with the newest innovations of technology. The latest is the new smartphones that not only can send and receive phone calls (an old-fashioned way of communicating, or so it seems), send text messages, e-mails and photos almost instantaneously to almost anyone in the world.
Feb. 16, 2010, — Once again it is time for the paper to explain its rules when covering election news.
On Tuesday, June 8, Lassen County residents will vote in the primary election for governor, lieutenant governor, California secretary of state, state controller, state treasurer, attorney general, state insurance commissioner, state assemblyman, a U.S. representative, a state senator and superintendent of public instruction.
Feb. 9, 2010 — I love St. Valentine’s Day. It is one of my favorite holidays. I like buying the silly little valentines with the strange little sayings and leaving them on co-workers desks with a piece of candy. I like buying heart-shaped boxes of chocolates for my children. I like sending out cards and small gifts to my nieces and nephew. I have a niece that was born on St. Valentine’s Day. She turns 18 this year. Valdy is her middle name and ironically, her middle name as nothing to with the holiday. She is named after my grandmother.
