TOP FOOD AND TOP SERVICE RESTAURANT   

Papa Murphy's has again been named a Zagat "Top Food" and "Top Service" restaurant among large fast-food chains. More than 130 restaurants were included in the 30-point scale survey, and more than 6,500 consumers participated. This is the second year in a row that Papa Murphy's has secured a spot in the Zagat's annual survey. Local owners Judy and Lorin Galassi are thrilled with the news.

HEALTHCARE REFORM WORSHOP   

Lassen Career Network and Plumas Work Connection are each hosting a special healthcare reform workshop featuring Susan Christensen of Christensen Insurance. In her two-hour presentation, Susan will discuss how the new law may affect your business, potential tax credits and the significance of “grandfathering” your health plan. The date in Susanville at the Lassen Career Network offices on Chestnut Street is Sept. 13. The date in Quincy at the Plumas Work Connection facility on East Main Street is Sept. 22. GAUMONT NOW AT HEADQUARTERS   

Lily Gaumont, formerly of Hi-Lites Salon has moved to Headquarters Salon in Susanville. Lily has had extensive training in cutting from the Bumble & Bumble Academy in New York City. She is available for cuts, color and waxes Tuesday through Saturday. Donna, BJ and Lauren welcome Lily to the salon.

FRIENDS OF THE NRA BANQUET   

Lassen County Friends of the NRA is hosting its third annual fund-raising banquet and auction. It will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28 at the Veterans Memorial Hall in Susanville. You must get your tickets prior to the dinner, as they will not be sold at the door. There will be a live auction, silent auctions and special drawings.
