Susanville residents were surprised to learn that the watershed of the Susan River is much greater than that of Eagle Lake. The more the course and tributaries of the Susan River are studied, the more it appears as the water supply source for the Honey Lake Valley. The fact that the surplus water forms a lake each year in the lower Honey Lake Valley which is 16 miles long and 12 miles wide, proves the immense amount of water which finds egress from its headwaters at Caribou and Silver lakes.

The Seward House had more than 200 people for dinner for each day during the fair.

70 years ago
A Pittville man drew a serial number one in the shuffle of selective service training cards filed with the country draft board. From the 2,277 registrants officially recorded in the county, a Susanville man drew the second serial number.

 

Remember When for Oct. 5, 2010

120 years ago   

Most of the candidates on the ballot were out rustling up votes. If they do not gain many votes, at least they will become better acquainted with county residents.

120 years ago

The man who robbed the stage just below Milford a short time ago was traced to Sacramento and captured by Sheriff Cady.
