The citizens of Janesville are furious over the closing of the Wells Fargo office in town and at the unsatisfactory manner of running the mail.
John Alexander, a hunter and trapper, recently brought in some fine deer heads. One pair of antlers had 12 points while another had 15. These are hard to beat.

Bill Brasdear is putting up quite an extensive woodshed at his place and William Ravenscroft, the prize shoemaker, has returned to town and will occupy his old quarters just above Spaulding’s drugstore for the winter. Call to get your soles tapped!

120 years ago
Monday night was a wild one on the boulevard. The saloons were full and most of the denizens were there. The energetic candidate made merry music with silver on the bar and the long suffering and thirsty voters took many a bath. The plots were formed, jobs put up, promises made, issues pooled and heads held close together in secret conclave. All of this gave evidence of the great and mighty questions on which hung the future of the state.

 

Remember When for Oct. 26, 2010

120 years ago
The first meeting of the Lassen Board of Trade was held at the Steward House Hall for the purpose of incorporation and membership roll call, which included more than 40 local businessmen.
