Human remains found in Doyle area
Oct. 29, 2013 — Deputies with the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office are working to identify human remains discovered in Doyle, Sunday, Oct. 27.
Two hunters came across what they believed to be a skull in the mountainous area approximately one mile from Constantia Road, according to a press release from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies and investigators responded to the scene and discovered what has been determined to be a human skull, along with several other bones, which appear to be consistent with those of a human. In the approximate area of the bones, a pair of pants was found as well.
Preliminary investigation shows the bone parts scattered across a large area, which will require multiple personnel to conduct a search.
The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office has requested assistance from the forensic and anthropology units of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and work has already begun to research all missing person reports in the county.
Information will be updated as it becomes available.
