Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 — A 78-year-old man seemed to escape life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle about 12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18.
The man was traveling on the sidewalk in front of Lumberjack’s restaurant on Main Street in his motorized wheelchair when, for unknown reasons, he veered off into the street, according to Susanville Chief of Police Tom Downing.
He was pinned beneath a semi-truck carrying an oversized load, but according to Downing, “fortunately the axles did not run over him.”
When responders arrived, the man was conscious but barely talking. He was transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center.
