Sept. 12, 2013 — Classic cars and trucks will be on display for vintage automobile enthusiasts and local residents to enjoy.
The Lassen County Fairgrounds will play host to the annual High Country Cruise from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14.
“It’s a lot of work, but I enjoy it,” said event coordinator Rich Sussen. “We’ve been doing it so long … we get to see old friends and meet new people.”
Put on by the Susanville Street Rodders, the annual car show features local pre-1975 cars and trucks in addition to classic favorites from Lincoln, Calif., Oregon and Burney, Calif.
Attendees can expect to see roughly 50 to 60 cars and trucks in addition to listening to music, possibly eating food and participating in a raffle. The raffle will be drawing winners throughout the event, one possible prize being a Shop-Vac donated by Ace Hardware.
The majority of the money raised during the event is compiled by the Susanville Street Rodders to be put back in the community.
According to Sussen, the group has donated to the Salvation Army, Relay For Life, the Northern California Cancer Advocates and even local families experiencing hardship. Over the past 14 years, the High Country Cruise has brought in an average of $2,500 annually.
In Sussen’s words, the Susanville Street Rodders is just a group that likes old cars and getting together.
