Man arrested after pursuit
Friday, Aug. 9 — Susanville Police Department officers arrested a Susanville man after a foot pursuit in the area of Russell Avenue on Thursday, Aug. 8.
Thomas Kohler, 29, of Susanville, was booked into the Lassen County Jail on multiple charges including possession of methamphetamine, possession of syringes, possession of a concealed dirk or dagger and delaying or obstructing a peace officer. He was held on a $30,000 bail.
According to the Susanville Police Department, Kohler was riding his bicycle on Main Street near Russell Avenue and at approximately 7 p.m. an officer in a marked patrol vehicle attempted to initiate a traffic stop for several violations.
Kohler allegedly ignored the lights and siren and a short pursuit ensued on Russell Avenue and Fair Drive. The pursuit continued onto the 200 block of N. Mesa Street where Kohler abandoned his bicycle and continued to flee on foot.
Officers pursued him and located Kohler hiding in the backyard of a residence in the 400 block of Russell Avenue.
He was arrested and taken into custody without further incident.
The case has been referred to the Lassen County District Attorney’s office for prosecution
