July 12, 2013 — Fire crews were dispatched at approximately 11:45 p.m. to a vegetation fire on Skyline Road which was closed to traffic between Highway 139 and Johnstonville Road, according to officials.
The fire burned roughly three to five acres and started in the Susanville city district but quickly moved into the Susan River jurisdiction.
Structures were not threatened thanks to Northeastern wind gusts pushing the flames out into a field. However, LP Gas Company was given an advisory evacuation notification.
Fire engines were placed on either side of the charred ground, forming a wet line to prevent further damage.
Emergency responders included Susanville City Fire Department, Calfire, Susan River Fire Protection District, the Lassen County sheriff’s office and the Susanville Police Department.
