Portola man arrested for possession of narcotics for sale
June 14, 2013 — In the evening hours of Thursday, June 13, a deputy from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man for having over two ounces of methamphetamine in the Doyle area.
According to a press release the deputy, assigned to the South Lassen County post, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 395 for a traffic violation. The driver, John Mulhall, 43, of Portola, was the sole occupant in the vehicle.
Upon further investigation the deputy discovered Mulhall was found to be in possession of more than two ounces of methamphetamine and items consistent with using and weighing drugs. When sold in personal use quantities, this amount has a street value of more than $5,000.
Mulhall was booked into the Lassen County Jail for possession of narcotics for sale and possession of paraphernalia. His bail was set at $20,000.
