Genieve W. (Jenny) Alexander

 

Genieve W. (Jenny) Alexander, 89, of Lassen County, died Jan. 8, 2013. She was born March 24, 1923 in Cairo, Ill. to Jesse and Bessie Robison.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Alexander; her parents; three brothers and sisters; and one daughter.

She is survived by two sons; one daughter-in-law; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her interment will be private.

 

Aaron Harry-Winapa “Bubba” Dixon, Jr.

Aaron Harry-Winapa “Bubba” Dixon, Jr. passed away unexpectedly in Sacramento, Calif. on Feb. 16, 2013. He was born May 16, 1982 in Susanville, Calif.

He is survived by his mother, Patti Dixon, of Vacaville, Calif. and father, Aaron Dixon, Sr., of Susanville; sister, Ehove Dixon; nephew, Teo; niece, Kailei Gomez, of Vacaville; grandfather, Harold Dixon, of Susanville; uncles, Stacy Dixon and Scott Dixon; aunts, Teresa Dixon, Charlene Dixon, of Susanville, Renee Wessell, of Tuolumne, Calif., and Oudiea Dixon, of Reno, Nev.

Aaron had several great-aunts and great-uncles and numerous cousins in California and Nevada. He had numerous friends all over the United States. He had numerous friends and family in the Bay Area.

Bubba moved to the Bay Area with his parents in 1994, from Susanville, and resided in Marin County. His journey to Vallejo had begun in 2003, where he resided until the time of his death. His hobbies were softball, bowling, volleyball, gambling and traveling to tournaments, and he loved his bingo and his flash.

He will be truly missed by all and his smile and humor and laughter, his extraordinary attitude and zest for life will be missed.

Aaron’s funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday March 1, 2013 at the Susanville Indian Rancheria Gymnasium, 845 Joaquin St.

A viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 at Walton’s Colonial Mortuary, 115 S. Lassen St. in Susanville.

 

Mary Lee Middleton Elledge

Mary Lee Middleton Elledge passed away Feb. 20, 2013 at the Manor Care Facilities in Reno, Nev.

She was born to John and Jenny Middleton on Sept. 13, 1921 in Fernley, Nev. and raised in Portola. Her family moved to Susanville in her teens and she graduated from Lassen Union High School in 1939.

She married Ralph Elledge in 1939, lived in Susanville and raised three children.

Mary was a kind and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She always had a special place in her heart for children and was especially close to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was constructed of a character and strength that few have. Mary Lee’s greatest pleasure was found in the time spent with her family.

Above all else, she leaves us an enduring legacy of love.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, John and Jenny Middleton; sister, Gertrude Edgar; brothers, John and Clinton Middleton; grandson, Bruce Ayers; daughter, Betty Elledge; and loving husband of 52 years, Ralph Elledge.

She is survived by her son, Jack (Cynthia) Elledge; daughter, Shirley (Jack) Scheeler; grandchildren, Tracy (Andrew) Wilson, Rob (Dayna) Ayers, Brian (Jennifer) Elledge, Stefanie Elledge and Jolene (Jeff) Boren; great-grandchildren, Kellen, Austin, Dillon, Jack, Tyler, Bella and Wyatt; brother, Robert Middleton; sister, Lois Towell; numerous loving nieces and nephews, and their families; and her closest friend of more than 70 years, Opal Berry.

Services will be held at noon Thursday, Feb. 28 at Walton’s Funeral Home on S. Lassen Street in Susanville. Interment will be in the Janesville Cemetery immediately following services.

Our sorrow comes from knowing we can no longer be a part of her life and our joy comes from knowing she will always be a part of ours.

May God bless her in her eternal life.

 

 

Achille “Nini” Marinoni

 

Achille “Nini” Marinoni, 83, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 15, 2013, at Banner Lassen Medical Center in Susanville after a two-year battle with mesothelioma.

Nini was born Dec. 7, 1929, in Westwood, Calif. to Basilio and Maria Marinoni. As a child he attended school in Westwood and made many lifelong friendships from his “Old Town” neighborhood.

In 1939 he and his family moved to Switzerland where he spent his teen years in the Alps tending cows and goats and making cheese. After working at the carborundum factory in Switzerland, he returned to Westwood in 1950 to find work at the Fruit Growers Supply Company and also worked in the woods.

Nini married Jean Marie Martin in 1961 and they were married 51 years. Nini and Jean were blessed with four children. Nini was a dedicated husband and father who spent his life working for the betterment of his family. He was also a wonderful grandpa.

Nini was a 27-year member of the Carpenters Union (local #1599), and spent his life building and working on many homes and buildings in Susanville and the surrounding area. He was also a 54-year member of the Susanville Elks Lodge.

He was a talented musician and loved to play the accordion, especially at the St. Francis Roundup Room, where Jean and many friends would come and dance. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid vegetable gardener.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; sons, Paul and Dino; daughters, Janet Marinoni and Julie (Mike) Morgan; and grandsons, Dustin and Trenton Morgan. He is also survived by his sisters, Alma (Gene) Barlow, of Indiana, and Nina Gstrein, of Switzerland; cousins, Lino (Delight) Callegari, of Susanville, Jenny Lucero, of Sacramento, and Geo Dressi, of Switzerland; and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death, by his parents and youngest sister, Evelina Roberti, of Switzerland.

Nini will be greatly missed by his family. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Susanville, followed by a celebration of life at the Monsignor Moran Hall. Donations may be made to Sacred Heart Church Caring and Sharing or another local charity.

 

 

Ralph Francis Quelette, Jr.

 

Ralph Francis Quelette, Jr., 70, died Feb. 20, 2013 at Country Villa Riverview in Susanville. He was born Feb. 7, 1943 in Ohio.

He is survived by his son, Shaun and Jamie Simmons, of Susanville; daughter, Kellie and Billy Arnold, of Johnstonville; and six grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

 

Laura Bernice Stoy

 

Laura Bernice Stoy, 86, died Jan. 30, 2013 at Country Villa Riverview in Susanville. She was born May 15, 1926 in Doyle.

She is survived by daughter, Lorretta (Doug) Donnahoo, of Susanville; sons, Doug (Tamara) Stoy, of Standish, Gary Stoy, of Susanville, and Trent (Robin) Stoy, of Ashland, Ore.; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
