AP classes not eliminated
Feb. 16, 2013 — Advanced Placement (AP) classes are not in danger of being eliminated at Lassen High School (LHS).
According to Lisa Cavin, executive assistant/human resources coordinator at the Lassen Union High School District (LUHSD), there will be discussion at the Tuesday, Feb. 19 board meeting about changing the seven period day to a six period day to lengthen the time for AP classes.
However, that may affect the number of sections offered for any class.
LHS principal Robbin Pedrett will be giving a presentation on how a six period day will effect the class offerings.
LHS offers AP courses in English, calculus chemistry, and biology.
During the board’s Tuesday, Feb. 12 meeting, the board approved offering three new AP classes in United States History, computer science and environmental science.
However, Cavin said it is not certain if computer science and environmental science will be offered depending on if there is room in the schedule.
