Lassen Rural Bus offering free rides home on New Year’s Eve
Dec. 19, 2012 — Keep yourself and others safe this New Year’s Eve by taking advantage of a free ride home on Lassen Rural Bus (LRB).
LRB is partnering with Main Street Bowl, Diamond Mountain Casino and Hotel and Lassen Ale Works at the Pioneer Saloon, for the second annual Safe Ride Home.
According to Gary Felt, general manager of Paratransit, who has the operating contract for LRB, the first trip will start around 11 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31 and will run a pattern from each of the four places and take anyone home within the Susanville city limits.
At the peak, which will be around 12:30, there will be two buses in operation. The service will end around 3 a.m.
Approximately 80 people took advantage of last year’s Safe Ride Home event, according to Felt.
He said he talked to the district attorney and police chief and although they couldn’t guarantee it was because of the program, there was half of the DUIs, than the previous year.
