Beacon station robbed again
Dec. 15, 2012 — Armed robbers held up the Beacon gas station on Main Street in the early morning hours of Saturday, Dec. 15, marking the second time the station has suffered an armed robbery in about three weeks.
According to a press release from the Susanville Police Department (SPD), officers responded to the station about 2:40 a.m. after a clerk reported two men demanding money entered the store — one armed with a shotgun and the other armed with a baseball bat. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspects ran in the direction of North Weatherlow Street.
According to the press release, the suspects were both wearing “dark colored hooded sweatshirts with the hoods pulled over their heads." One suspected is described as a light-skinned male approximately 5 feet to 5 feet 6 inches tall with a medium build. The second suspect is described as a male approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build.
“At this time, no further information is available about their identity,” the release reported, but a portion of two surveillance videos of the robbery are available on the SPD website at cityofsusanville.net/police-department.
The case remains under investigation, and anyone with information is encouraged to call the 24-hour dispatch line at (530) 257-2171. You may remain anonymous if you wish.
Armed robbers hit the station in the early morning hours of Thanksgiving Day, and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash. Two Susanville men — Casey Bauer, 18, and Patrick Donald McKee, 27 — were arrested in that case.
