Zubillaga pulls ahead of Atkinson in high school board election

Sunday, Nov. 11 — It is a close race for the second seat on the Lassen Union High School District Board of Trustees. According to the unofficial final results, Michelle Zubillaga pulled ahead of Jeff Atkinson by 2 votes.

On Friday, Nov. 9, Zubillaga and Atkinson were tied, but results posted by the Lassen County Clerk’s Office in the evening of Saturday, Nov. 10 show Zubillaga with 3,007 votes and Atkinson receiving 3007 votes.

Incumbent Ken Theobald leads the election with 3,261 votes, while Chuck Spence, incumbent and current board president, was not re-elected and came in fourth with 2,648 votes.

Challenger Fred Autenrieb had 1,800 votes.
