Two injured in vehicle rollover

Oct. 25, 2012 — A single vehicle accident sent two people to Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nev. Tuesday, Oct. 23.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Jack Allen Young, 83, was driving his 2008 Nissan SUV on Highway 395, just south of Lambert Lane.

The CHP said Young reported he was traveling at 55 miles per hour. The vehicle traveled over the Dill Slough Bridge and began to slide off the roadway. The Nissan traveled down an embankment and collided with a barbed wire fence on the east shoulder of northbound 395, then rolled over into a horse pasture and came to rest on its roof, facing in a westerly direction.

Both Young and his passenger, Margaret Jean Young, 80, sustained moderate injuries in the collision. They were transported by ground ambulance to Banner Lassen Medical Center and then flown to Reno.

According to the CHP, the weather was cloudy, icy and cold at the time of the accident.

Sorry. It had nothing to do with age and everything to do with the first ice of the season. That bridge area can get slicker than snot when there is ice.

Not quite! Diminished visual acuity and reduced reaction times are hallmarks of the aging process! Not too many 80 year old pilots! Same thing with last years Reno air show pilot ploughing into the spectator stands.
