Susanville man arrested in connection to alleged thefts

Oct. 23, 2012 — The investigation of several alleged thefts in a Susanville subdivision resulted in a man being arrested twice.

At approximately noon, Thursday, Oct. 18, Susanville Police Department (SPD) officers responded to the 1000 block of Cameron Way on a reported unknown type 911 call. Upon arrival, officers learned a homeowner had found a man allegedly rummaging through some items inside his garage.

Joshua Grenfell, 23, was subsequently arrested for burglary.

At approximately noon, Friday, Oct. 19, officers, with assistance from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Forest Service, executed a search warrant at Grenfell’s residence.

The search revealed multiple pieces of stolen property allegedly tying Grenfell to burglary and theft cases that officers received reports on during the week of Oct. 15.

Grenfell, who was out on bail for his initial arrest, was located and arrested again on a $100,000 bail.

The SPD first started receiving calls about the alleged thefts at 7:50 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15. Officers responded to a report of an alleged theft from an unlocked vehicle in the 600 block of Ruth Way. A man said a firearm and a computer were stolen from his vehicle.

Officers responded to the 1000 block of Ashley Way at 2:55 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17 to a reported vehicle theft. The victim alleged a vehicle had been stolen from his garage and there were items missing from another vehicle parked at the residence. The victim also reported his home had been ransacked, however no items were missing.

The stolen vehicle was recovered at approximately 4:25 a.m. in the 700 block of Cameron Way.

The cases have been referred to the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office.

I realize in every town, There will be a few persons who will dis respect hard working people and think they are so clever not to get caught. However, This type will eventually get caught and good will prevail.

How do you leave a gun and computer in your car and not lock it?
