Homecoming week is Oct. 22-27; theme Jacks R Wild

Oct. 23, 2012 — Westwood homecoming is this week, Oct. 22 through 27, and the entire community is invited to attend events. The 2012 theme is “Jacks R Wild.” Be sure to dress in school colors, red and black, when you come to functions. Alumni will only be charged $2 at the gate for sporting events if wearing their lettermen jackets, sweaters or carrying other proof of alumnus status.

Classes will decorate halls at the high school and dress up on theme days to earn points. Theme dress up days include Scary Monday, Twinning Tuesday, Wednesday’s Opposite, Super Hero Thursday and Spirit Day Friday. The winning class will receive a pizza party.

On Monday, Oct. 22, Westwood Volleyball hosts Downieville at home with the game starting at 5:30 p.m. A rose ceremony is scheduled between games to honor the parents of the senior players.

A new tradition is being launched Tuesday, Oct. 22 — guys playing volleyball in uniform while girls coach. Wednesday, Oct. 23, is the annual PowderPuff Football game. Thursday, Oct. 24, is the senior bonfire.

Friday, Oct. 25, is the homecoming football game between the Westwood Lumberjacks and Princeton Eagles. The homecoming ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. with the game starting at 7 p.m. During halftime a rose ceremony will be held to honor the parents of the senior players.

Friday night’s homecoming game will also be the scene for the Class of 2002 reunion.
