MONDAY NIGHT TACO TIME
The Elks Lodge in Susanville is now hosting Monday Night Football and Tacos. They serve tacos beginning at 6 p.m. every Monday night during the football season. Have dinner, then enjoy free popcorn while you watch the game. This year they are giving away a 55-inch big screen TV and a 20-ton wood splitter. Tickets are available each Monday night at the Elks Lodge. See their ad for more information.
NEW COLD WEATHER GEAR NOW IN
With the cooler mornings, I think we can assume winter is just around the corner. Blake Huhtala, co-owner of The Elegant Iris and The Men's Den, tells us she just received a big shipment of warm hats, gloves and scarves. They also have a lot of kid’s cold weather camo gear. Don't forget she has a large selection of camo for adults, too. Be sure and stop by their Uptown Susanville location soon to stock up on your cold weather necessities.
ELKS YARD SALE
The Susanville Elks is now accepting donations for their annual rummage sale set from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29. Time to clean out your closets and storage sheds and bring your clean, working items to the back of the Elks Lodge from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22 or Friday, Sept. 28. See their ad in this week's paper for more information.
CHILDCARE OPEN AT 5 A.M.
Tambra Bowles, owner of Leap Ahead Learning Center, tells us she is now open at 5 a.m. She said she saw a need for people who go to work at 6 a.m. to have a safe place to take their kids that early. Be sure and ask about their special registration waiver if you enroll your child now. You can reach Tambra and her certified CPR staff at 252-6100.
CELEBRATING 25 YEARS
Bob Russell, of Russell's Window and Blind Cleaning, has been helping customers keep their windows clean and clear for 25 years now. Not only does he clean windows, but he also installs blinds. He is available for both commercial and residential jobs. You can reach him at 257-2985.
OH, THE SCENT OF FALL
Pumpkin Spice, Apple Cider, Harvest Moon, Autumn Leaves, those are just some of the fall scents now available at Hodge Podge Lodge. The canning-jar style of McCalls candles are now at Hodge Podge. The scents are available in candle bars and reed diffusers as well. Be sure and check out their summer clearance table while you're there.
LOTS AND LOTS OF TREES
Melissa McCoy, owner of Every Bloomin' Thing, said she just got more than 200 new trees delivered last week. It's beginning to look a lot like fall in the gift shop, too. Be sure and stop by her Johnstonville location soon.
NEW HOURS
If you are looking for a great sandwich or a bowl of homemade soup, stop in at the Courthouse Café across from Walmart. They are open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, and closed Monday.
FALL WORKSHOPS
There are great workshops set for September at Crow’s Nest Studio. Owner Alison Templeton invites everyone to come by and check out her great back-to-school sale on art supplies, and see about booking a birthday party or gallery space. She has plenty to offer local artists of all talent levels. See her ad in this week’s paper or stop by at 1015 Main St., Susanville. She is open from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
CHURCH-WIDE GARAGE SALE
This Saturday, at Grace Christian Fellowship Church, they are hosting a church-wide garage sale. The garage sale will be from 9 a.m. to noon at their church location, 1401 Riverside Drive. They will have a wide range of goods.
