Ski hill gears up for record season
The snow came early and Coppervale Ski Hill is in full operation. "Everyone is excited about the early opening," Coppervale manager Norm Wilson said. "We've already had a big weekend and 130 people showed up."
Coppervale, now with up to eight runs and a two- to four-foot base, will be open every day from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Thursday, Jan. 3, including Christmas and New Year's day.
The half pipe is open and the slopes conditions vary from machine-groomed to powder.
Wilson teaches a snowboard and skiing class from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The class is closed to snowboarders and open to skiers.
A second session will begin in mid-February. Register at the college.
Season passes cost $130 for high school and college students, $150 for adults and $275 for families. They can purchased at the college or at Coppervale.
Coppervale is located 14 miles west of Susanville.
