July, 13 2012 — The Susanville 23-year and older league is in full swing as the teams continued play at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 8 at Memorial Park.

The first game pitted the Snafu against the Chupacabras.

The Snafu would walk away with a decisive victory over the Chupacabras, 17-1.

The Snafu got a great outing from pitcher Neil ReBell.

ReBell went the distance, earning himself a complete game and only allowing one run with several strikeouts on the day.

The Snafu would get to a hot start early in the game pulling away from the Chupacabras.

Brandon Blosser went 4 for 4 on the day, with three RBIs.

Both teams only had nine players for the game, due to players having prior arrangements, and you could tell people were getting tired.

But that didn’t stop the Snafu, as they hammered away at the Chupacabras.

The game was called in the fifth inning with the 10-run mercy rule coming into effect.

The second game pitted the Dirtbags against the Hornets.

The Dirtbags would hold off the Hornets, despite a late inning run by the Hornets, 15-9.

The Dirtbags got off to a fast start, getting some solid hits from Chance Loflin who would hit a grand slam later on in the night.

With the game going into its final half of the inning, and the Hornets finding themselves down 15-4, they did all they could to chip away at the lead.

That was until a couple of nice outs were made and the Dirtbags halted any type of run the Hornets had at coming back.

The third game of the week was held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 11 at Memorial Park. It featured the River Cats against the Hacks.

The Hacks would walk away with a close win, with the final score 8-4.

BJ Goodridge started for the Hacks, pitched a complete game for the Hacks, only giving up four runs with several strikeouts.

Goodridge could do no wrong on the mound, giving batters fits as his curveball froze numerous River Cats’ batters.

With the Hacks up 5-0 and Goodridge having a stellar performance on the mound, it looked like the Hacks would take the game with ease.

The River Cats had a different idea in mind, and started chipping away at the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning and scored four runs off of a couple of errors by the Hacks’ infielders, bringing the River Cats a little bit closer to the lead.

That ended up being all the runs the River Cats could get, as Goodridge wouldn’t allow another run after that point.

He also came up with a couple of nice hits to get the score to 7-4 in favor of the Hacks.

Michael Hardy, Pat Farris and Bubba Wright all helped pitch in for the Hacks’ win, with each of them contributing with their bats, as well as with their gloves in the infield and outfield.

Next up for the Susanville Hardball League will be the River Cats against the Dirtbags at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 15 at Memorial Park, followed by the Hacks against the Hornets at 7 p.m.
