Notice of Decision

Project Name:  Jacks Valley Stewardship

Decision:  The Eagle Lake Field Office, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has decided to implement a forest health project on approximately 796 acres of BLM land 9 miles north of the Susanville. The BLM proposes to use mechanized equipment to thin pine and remove timber and biomass. The primary goal of the project is to restore the forest density to a condition it would be in if it was in an unsuppressed fire regime. No new permanent roads will be constructed. All existing roads will be restored to their present condition. 

            Project Location:  BLM lands located north of the Susanville along highway 139.  Legal description of project area: T30N R13E Sec. 7, 8, 17, and 18; T30N R12E Sec. 12; T30N R12E Sec. 1; T30N R13E Sec. 6; T31N R13E Sec. 31.

Implementation Date:  This project will be implemented on or after February, 2010.

Protests:  This decision is issued under 43 CFR Part 5003.  If you do not agree with this decision you may provide a written statement of reasons to the authorized officer within 15 days of the publication of this notice.  Upon receipt of the request the authorized officer may reconsider the decision to be implemented in light of the statement of reasons or other pertinent reasons.  Statements of reasons may be sent to the Bureau of Land Management, Eagle Lake Field Office, Attention: Field Manager, 2950 Riverside Drive, Susanville, CA. 96130.
