Saturday-Sunday, July 7-8 in the Member Guest Tournament,
two golfers carded holes-in-one, shocking course manager Todd Sickles. "Obviously, it's very rare. I've never seen it in a tournament like this," Sickles said.

The tournament, featuring a field of two-man teams with a club member and non-member, saw Jim Hodge of Susanville and Dick Gregg of San Jose ace the fifth hole.

With his first swing of the tournament, Hodge muscled a 6-iron into the cup.

"I didn't see it go in," said Hodge, who fired his fourth career hole-in-one and second in 15 months at Emerson Lake, "There was a lot of teasing among players going on at that time. I wasn't sure until I saw it in the bottom of the cup."

The shot won Hodge $80 for a skin, but cost him a $170 bar bill. The local dentist was teamed up with Dave Burger of Walnut Creek.

On Sunday, Gregg recorded his ace. playing his second hole of the day. The 17-handicapper used a 2-iron.

"It's pretty amazing," said Gregg's friend John Shaw of Susanville. "He's got some of the oldest irons I've ever seen. A lot of us use 7-irons on that hole. A 2-iron worked for him."

Gregg was partnered with Jeff Garnier of Susanville.

Tournament net winners were Dave and Gearry Runnels. Jim Ernaga and Kevin Farwell won the gross title.
