Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014 — Traffic collisions are the leading cause of death of teenagers across the United States and in California.
“The first year behind the wheel for a teen driver can be one of the most dangerous times in their life. Teens are far more likely to be killed in a vehicle collision than in anything else,” said CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow. “Developing safe driving habits is the first step toward avoiding a collision.”
Parents and teenagers can sign up for a Start Smart class by contacting officer Shaun Simmons at the Susanville CHP office at 257-2191. The next class is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21 at the Lassen High School library.
