Dec. 25, 2007 — Zeke, Lassen County Sheriff’s K-9 unit dog, was able to put his special skills to the test during a routine traffic stop on Sunday, Dec. 2. At about 10:30 p.m., the Lassen County K-9 unit stopped a car on South Lassen and Cottage streets in Susanville, Calif.

While the officers searched the car, Zeke alerted them of the presence of narcotics.

Lassen County deputies discovered approximately 101.9 grams of suspected cocaine, approximately 807.6 grams of suspected marijuana, two loaded firearms, and $1,260 in cash. Narcotics discovered in the car have an approximate street value of $26,342.

The Lassen County Narcotics Task Force was contacted and arrived on scene to assist with the investigation.

Investigation led to the arrest of Kevin Alen Clark, 19, of Chico, Calif. and Richard Louis Peterson, 21, of Milford, Calif. Clark and Peterson were booked at the Lassen County Adult Detention Facility and were being held on $50,000 bail.

Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force later served a search warrant at Clark’s residence in Chico. Items found during the search included weapons and additional narcotics.

The Butte Interagency Narcotics investigation led to the arrest of three additional subjects.
