Weed abatement programs in the works
The Susanville Fire Department Weed Abatement Program’s scope is to remove accumulations of weeds, rubbish, old lumber and other combustibles from properties in the city of Susanville.
The Bass Hill Landfill continues to take clean green waste free of charge. Clean green waste consists of grass, leaves, brush and tree branches no larger than four inches in diameter and must not be bagged.
In all, weeds present situations similar to that of many other community projects. Fire Chief Stu Ratner said if residents become aware of the problem, get involved in removing the weeds and assisting our neighbors with their, and be careful this summer regarding the causes of fire, we will have cooperated to make Susanville a more appealing and safer community to live in.
“Once again, we thank all our community spirited citizens for their efforts in making our city more fire safe and encourage everyone to keep up the good work,” said Ratner.
Those with specific question regarding fire hazards or weed abatement can call the Susanville Fire Department at 257-5152.
