Council considers raising rate, fees and charges
Public hearings could not be held during special meetings.
City staff is proposing the council increase fees 5-6 percent and add new fees for the Susanville Fire Department. The additional revenue from the increases will garner $12,000 for the general fund and $500 in Public Works Administration funds.
According to the staff report, “The proposed fees and charges have been calculated to recover the estimated cost (including overhead and administration costs) of providing the service.”
Most fees and rates will only go up $1-2 and a few probably or go down.
The biggest change is the addition of 34 new operational permit fees within the fire department.
All permits which include in part: places of assembly, explosives, open burning, private fire hydrants, storage of scrap tire and tire byproducts, miscellaneous combustible storage, exhibits and trade shows are $66 per permit.
A carnival and fair permit costs $264.
The City Council annually looks at fees, rates and schedules to make sure the cost of doing business is covered, the staff report stated.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. after a 6 p.m. closed meeting in Council Chambers on North Lassen Street.
