Fundraiser planned to assist premature baby

UPDATE: TOMORROW'S CAR WASH WILL BE HELD AT ALLIANCE GAS STATION, NOT THE BOWLING ALLEY.

Friday, May 16 — When local resident Charlene Norvell left work early because of back pain, she had no idea she would deliver her son in a parking lot at 26 weeks gestation.

Asher Eli was born weighing 1 pound, 14 ounces and mother and son were taken to Renown Medical Center in Reno that afternoon on April 24.

Now, friends and family are organizing events and have set up an account to raise money to help with expenses. Asher is expected to stay in NICU through the end of July and Norvell also has a 21-month-old son. A car wash will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, May 17 at Alliance Gas Station. An account has also been opened at the Golden 1 Credit Union under Baby Asher Fund, account number 1606134.
