Friday, May 1, 2015 — Jared Hancock, the executive officer for the Honey Lake Valley Recreation Authority, begins the process of finding a designer for the community swimming pool to be built on the old Roosevelt Pool site.
The authority, created by a joint powers agreement between the city of Susanville and Lassen County, directed Hancock to put out a request for proposals for a firm that could both design and build the pool at its Tuesday, April 21 meeting. The authority also directed Hancock to seek a firm that could design the pool to be built by other construction companies and contractors.
Last December, the authority board approved a preliminary site design for an L-shaped pool to be constructed at the old Roosevelt Pool site — a revision created by Hancock of a design provided by Aquatic Designs, a consulting firm hired by the authority.
The preliminary site design included only the idea of what the pool facility might look like. It did not include engineering work, construction plans or similar documents that would be required before the project could be put out to bid.
