Master Gardener classes begin March 31

Sunday, March 22, 2015 — To become a UC University of California Master Gardener, a person must participate in a 40- to 50-hour intensive training program consisting of lectures and demonstrations conducted by experts in their fields.

After their training, UC Master Gardeners are qualified to help the public with problems in areas such as weed control; plant problem diagnosis; soils, fertilizers and irrigation; lawn care; and vegetable gardening. Classes are held March 31 through May 16, and will be held on Tuesday afternoons, Thursday evenings and an occasional Saturday.

Classes will be held at the Lassen Senior Services Center on Sunkist Drive in Susanville. Space is available for 24 participants, and candidates will be selected from submitted applications.
