LCC drop two
There are plenty of games left, but Lassen College's baseball team suffered a significant setback last weekend. The Cougars dropped to 14-16-2 overall and 7-6 in the Golden Valley Conference after Feather River pulled off a sweep, winning 6-4 and 7-6 Saturday, April 6 in Quincy.
The Golden Eagles pushed its conference lead to 4-1/2 games with four weekends left in the regular season.
In the first game, Lassen starting pitcher Nick DeBarr struggled in 5-2/3 innings of work, giving up three runs on six hits.
Lassen squandered an early lead after scoring two runs in the first inning.
In the second game, Lassen's Dayton Hendricks belted a two-run home run in the first inning, but the Golden Eagles responded with a pair of homers to tie the score. The Cougars host a noon doubleheader against Butte Saturday, April 27.
