Sept. 4, 2007 — Residents concerned over the status of the Lassen Municipal Utility districts energy assistance program will be happy to know the program is still in existence, and is on it’s way to being reinstated in the coming months.

Former Susanville couple arrested for allegedly manufacturing marijuana

A former Susanville couple face five to 40 years in federal prison if convicted of federal drug charges two charges.
Daniel, 54, and Sherry, 59, Machado, current residents of Phillipsville, Calif., were arrested on a federal warrant and charged with allegedly violating Title 21 USC 846 and Title 21 US 841 (a) (1), conspiracy to manufacture more than 100 plants of marijuana and manufacturing more than 100 plants.

Westwood Pastor's home catches on fire

Sept. 11, 2007 — Westwood, Hamilton Branch, CAL FIRE and Peninsula Fire districts responded to a structure fire at the home of Jason Franklin, the pastor of the Westwood Bible Fellowship, which caught fire in the attic at “about 12:30 a.m. Friday morning,” said Franklin.
