City Council reaches impasse on sales tax measure

March 11, 2008 — In a 2-2 vote, the Susanville City Council reached an impasse in placing a proposed 0.5 percent sales tax measure on the June 3 ballot.
According to City Counsel Peter Talia, four of five councilmembers had to vote yes to place a tax measure on a ballot.

Water tests prompt state to order chlorination in Clear Creek

March 18, 2008 — The Clear Creek Community Services District Board of Directors held a special meeting Tuesday, March 11, to discuss ways to improve its water delivery system after samples taken by the state of California tested positive for coliform bacteria. This bacterium is common in the environment and does not pose a health risk, however, it is used as an indicator of the sanitary quality of water.
