April 16 — Lassen Community College has hired a head women’s soccer coach for the 2014 season.
Roman DuChateau brings years of coaching experience with him to Lassen College and plans to rebuild the women’s soccer program.
Originally from Sacramento, DuChateau played soccer for Consumnes River College before transferring to California State University Stanislaus, where he continued his soccer career. After graduating from Stanislaus, DuChateau began coaching youth club soccer with the Placer United Soccer Club, based in Roseville. In 2007, he joined the United Football Academy in Reno before heading to Asia where he worked with professional youth academy teams and high schools. DuChateau has also been a director of goalkeeping and senior coach at Two Rivers Soccer Camp in Graeagle for the past decade.
He returns now to California from Asia with his wife, who will be joining him in Susanville.
While DuChateau remarked on the vast differences between the Asian cities with populations of millions he recently lived in and Susanville; he says its a nice change.
“The Susanville community has been really nice. It’s a really welcoming place.”
DuChateau is still in his first month on the job and has a lot to do to prepare for the upcoming season, which starts in August.
