Juveniles arrested on assault, conspiracy charges

Sunday, May 6 — Two juveniles have been taken into custody after allegedly assaulting a 25-year-old man who is currently in serious, but stable condition at Renown Medical Center in Reno, according to a press release from the Susanville Police Department (SPD).

According to the press release, at approximately 9:20 p.m. Friday, May 4, officers were dispatched to the area of N. Railroad Avenue and Richmond Road on a report of a man down.

Upon arrival, officers located Adam Mendes, 25, of Susanville, in the roadway and suffering trauma to the head. He was initially transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center before being trasferred to Renown Medical Center due to his injuries.

Due to evidence at the scene and subsequent investigation, officers were led to an address on Prospect Avenue where on Saturday, May 5, they arrested the juveniles ages 14 and 15. They were booked into the Lassen County Juvenile Hall on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy. They are being held without bail, pending a court appearance.

What else do kids in Susanville have to do?
Go swimming or ice skating?
Prisoners have more recreational choices, not a good sign.

Prospect Avenue is known for having violence in it,s neighborhood.Erica has said THUGS for parent,s. I believe Law Enforcement should look at the parent,s and see if there is reason to keep the teenager,s from returning to thier house,s.This is a very serious crime. I have faith in Law Enforcement.

Blaming it on nothing to do and the parents doesn't make sense. What makes sense is the parents not being able to punish their child for fear of having trouble with agencies and persons within those agencies that have as many child problems of their own and don't know what to do. Sad Sad Sad

I am sure you do have faith in law enforcement David Parks you say it on all the comments! children have nothing to do in Susanville! We have 3 prisons and a new court house, seems to me Lassen County cares more about criminals then children sounds alot like you David!

There are a TON of things for kids to do here. Sports, camping, fishing, hiking, swimming in the river, bike riding on the trails around town. What we have is a failure on many levels to guide our young people, hold them accountable-instead of making excuses- and teach them values.

We just have to help our kid,s to stay away from drug,s and be apart of thier live,s.Take them to church to.

Courthouse and Two of the prisons paid for totally by the State of California NOT Lassen County or City of Susanville. The 3rd prison paid for entirely by the FEDERAL government. But hey ya'll don't like them being here they could shut all 3 prisons down and see what is left of Lassen County.
