Collision claims two womens’ lives
Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 — A vehicle collision on Bass Hill claimed the lives of two women during the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 18.
Kevin Jones, a sergeant with the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, issued a press release, which said, “It is with incredible sadness we report the deaths of Lassen County resident Linda Meadows, 66, and Modoc County resident Albertina Callahan, 68. Both were the sole occupants of their vehicles during the collision.”
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 5:31 p.m. Callahan was driving northbound on the highway, just south of Johnstonville Dump Road, at approximately 55 miles per hour. She was negotiating a gradual left curve.
Doyle man loses life in vehicle collision
Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013 — A head-on collision claimed the life of a Doyle man early this morning.
The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office has not released the victim’s name at this time.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at approximately 6:40 a.m. the man was driving his Toyota Camry southbound on Highway 395, north of Constantia Road at an unknown speed.
Quincy man held in death of toddler
A Quincy man is charged with murder in connection with the death of a 22-month-old boy last week.
Kenneth Charles-Alan Stringfellow, 24, is being held in the Plumas County jail on $1 million bail.
He was scheduled to be arraigned in Plumas County Superior Court on Tuesday afternoon.
Recreation authority holds first meeting
Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 — The Honey Lake Valley Recreation Authority — created by a joint powers agreement between Lassen County and the city of Susanville and tasked with building a community swimming pool — held its first meeting at the Susanville City Council Chambers at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10.
The authority’s board includes two members from the Susanville City Council and two members from the Lassen County Board of Supervisors. They are councilmembers Brian Wilson, who was elected president, and Nicholas McBride, and supervisors Jim Chapman, who was elected vice president, and Larry Wosick.
