Lassen County basketball shown no love in playoffs Wednesday night
The Herlong High varsity girl’s basketball team (No. 11) fell in the first round of the Northern Section CIF Division VI playoffs 65-50 to the number six seed, Butte Valley, on the road in Dorris, Calif.
After receiving a disappointing 10 seed in the Northern Section CIF Division IV playoffs, the Lassen High varsity boy’s team traveled to West Valley to take on the number seven seed, the Eagles.
Despite managing to gather up seven upper-division wins during the regular season, the Grizzlies fell 46-42 to the Eagles in the first round of the playoffs.
The outlook is still bright for other Lassen County teams. After receiving a bye, the Westwood High boy’s basketball team has its first contest in the Division VI playoffs as the number one seed.
The Jacks play at 7 p.m., tonight, Thursday, Feb. 23, on their home court to take on the number nine seed, the Princeton Eagles.
The Lassen High varsity girl’s basketball (No. six seed) will take to the road today, Thursday, Feb. 23, to take on the Winters Warriors (No. three seed) at 7 p.m., in the second round of the Division IV playoffs.
The Westwood High girl’s basketball team will round out playoff games for the week at home as the number one seed in the Division VI bracket.
The Lady Jacks play at 7 p.m., tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 24, and will take on the No. eight seed, Big Valley.
