| Moonlight Bar & Grill is now open in Westwood at 403 Ash St. Owners Bridgett (pictured) and Tim Bustamante inform us the bar and grill is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The restaurant provides a great family environment, serving a large selection of appetizers, burgers, soups and salads. Bustamante tells us they make a mean root beer float, too. They have a billiard room — fun for the whole family. The sports bar is open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. They plan to have live music every other Saturday.They will be holding a grand opening from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19. Photo submitted |
We had lots of winners in this year’s Customer Appreciation Days event. In-store winners were: Susan Bourquin — free oil changes for one year; Lori Crawford — a $100 store gift certificate to Ace Hardware; Sharon Seavers — a $200 gift certificate to Leslie's Jewelry; Trudy Leete — a $25 gift certificate to Margie's Book Nook; and Ashley Parker — a $250 gift certificate to Zaengles Carpet One Floor & Home.
The shopping spree winners were: $100 each went to Chuck Swinney and Rachel Stewart; $50 each to Lisa Pickens, Kristi Hancock, Michele Rhamy, Craig Redlen, Jeff Harris and Laurie Tice.

IT’S BARBECUE SEASON
Idaho Grocery tells us they are barbecuing sandwiches and fresh USDA Choice beef on Fridays at the store. Plus, they’ve added the complete line of Corning Olive Oil Company California Extra Virgin Olive Oils. They also have hundreds of amazing rubs, sauces and marinades to make your next barbecue a gourmet, mouthwatering meal.
THIRD ANNUAL POW WOW
The Susanville Indian Rancheria (SIR) is holding its third annual Pow Wow May 18 to 20 at the Lassen County Fairgrounds. Admission is free to the public and several activities are planned. The Lassen Indian Health Center is also offering free health screenings at the SIR Pow Wow. Enjoy native dancing, music, food and arts and crafts.
SUPPORT THE INAUGURAL STUDENT SHOWCASE
The Academic Senate, with the assistance of campus-wide personnel, is sponsoring the Lassen Community College Inaugural Student Showcase May 21 through 25. If you are a campus student or employee who would like to assist in the fundraising efforts, which include a campus yard sale and bake sale, you can contact the administration office for more information. Judges and event promoters are also needed, so do your part and help support this event.
WALKER MANSION REOPENS
Nestled alongside the historic Paul Bunyan statue in the heart of downtown Westwood, the historic Walker Mansion Inn has reopened for the season, serving lunch in the charming café. They will be serving Sunday brunch beginning June 10. Owner Esther Pretti also carries antiques, gift items, home furnishings and offers garden weddings, consultations and catering.
