Plans under way to save the music in Lassen schools
— Preparations are under way for phase two of Save the Music Program in Lassen County.
A Country Summer Night — Band Wagon Festival will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 8 at the Lassen County Fairgrounds. The event will feature national artists as well as local talent.
Janesville School music director A.R. Danes said, “It promises to be a good lineup and well worth it for the public education of musical arts.
Tickets are now available to give everyone a chance to attend this year.

A talent show will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18 at Janesville School and the winners will perform at both the Lassen County Children’s Fair and the Band Wagon concert.
Danes said the talent show will feature local iconic judges, and all music students in the county are welcome to participate.
People can pick up an entry form at Janesville School or call Tawnya Merrill 253-4196.
In October 2012, a concert was held at Janesville School featuring NBC’s The Voice contestant Sonia Rao, local fiddler Tallon Sandoval and Nashville star Hope Nix.
According to Danes, money made from that event will go toward the June festival with the goal of making even more money.
Although Janesville School is hosting the event, Danes said “As this support grows, it will benefit all county schools needing assistance with musical arts budgets.”
