LHS baseball star signs letter of intent to play for Western Nevada College

Beck will report to WNC on August 9, 2013, after playing with the EnFuego Elite for the summer.

 

LHS soccer plays home games against Corning

Feb. 6 — The Lassen High School (LHS) soccer team played its first and last home game at Riverside Park Tuesday, Feb. 5 against Corning High School.

The boy’s soccer team fell to Corning, 7-0. The girl’s team tied, 2-2.

Portia Martin and Kylee Kehler each scored goals for the Lady Grizzlies. Goalie Amanda Cook had 15 saves.

The LHS soccer team had been unable to play on their home field prior to the game against Corning, due to snow and icy conditions at Riverside Park.

 

Lady Cougars battle Butte College

Feb. 5 — The Lassen Community College women’s basketball team faced Butte College in a home game Thursday, Jan. 31. The Lady Cougars fell to Butte, 70-62.

Butte had the lead early on and ended the first half ahead of Lassen by 11 points. This set the tone for the rest of the game, as Butte remained in the lead until the end.

Lassen’s Haylee Shaffer played hard, putting 18 points on the board for the Lady Cougars and fouling out of the game in the last two minutes.  Madison Bowler had 12 points. Lacey Smith and Erica Roberson each scored eight.

The Lady Cougar's next home game is against College of the Redwoods at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9. 

 

 

Lassen Wrestling goes up against Central Valley

Jan. 31 — Lassen High School wrestling went up against Central Valley in the last league dual of the season Wednesday, Jan. 30. Lassen lost, 57-24.

In the 113-pound weight class, Kenny Jones had a win by pin. Alex McConnell also had a win by pin in the 145-pound class. Nick Hibbits won by pin in the 152-pound division. In the 160-pound class, Noah Lindeman won by pin. Tommy Eigin had a loss in the 170-pound class. Jake Thiels had losses in both the 182 and 195-pound divisions. Lassen forfeited matches in the 106, 102, 126, 132, 138, 220 and 288-pound weight divisions.
