    April 7 — Two local students have been gaining speed and skill on the ski slopes.

    Kylie Kersh and Rhys Cooper, both of Susanville, are members of the Johnsonville Ski Team, based out of Graeagle, and having been making a name for themselves in ski competitions in the Tahoe area.


    Kersh, a seventh-grader, has been racing for about five years, while Cooper, a third-grader, is in his first year on the team.



    Recently, Kersh finished seventh overall on the team in competition and Cooper finished 16th. Both of the young skiers qualified to compete in the Buddy Werner championships Sunday, April 6 at Alpine Meadows.
