The administration at Seneca Healthcare District shared with us a fraudulent bill they received seeking immediate payment on a supposedly past due balance that was being “referred to debt collections” if action wasn’t taken immediately. A quick and cursory review might suggest to some it appeared to be an authentic charge for yellow page advertising. You have to believe that if this fraudulent billing company is taking the time and effort to mail (who knows how many of these) bogus statements out to businesses some must be inadvertently getting paid. Even though it had a Bulgaria return address, one might mistakenly think it was just another American company outsourcing their work.

But is does serve as a good reminder for us to never assume anything and to make sure our internal checks and balances are as they should be. Thanks Seneca for sharing this important information.
