Janesville employees, teachers to see pay increase

Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014 — The Janesville Teachers Association and the California School Employees Association Chapter 678 will receive an increase in salaries, although the Lassen County Office of Education did not necessarily approve.

At the Tuesday, Aug. 19 board of trustees meeting, both increases were approved in public hearings.

“While this decision is ultimately yours, it would be our recommendation that the board not approve this increase in cost,” read a letter from Richard DuVarney, County Superintendent of Schools. “… We believe that an increase of costs of any kind would be adverse at this time.”

Casey Cammacho was a great teacher at Lassen High School for many years, prior to his retirement. He always shared that he wished the Lassen County School Board would offer better pay increase to the teachers. It finally happened to Janesville. I believe that Casey Cammacho's prayers were heard from his grave. May he rest in peace. What a great man he was.
