Monday, Aug. 4 — A Doyle man was killed in a vehicle accident that occurred approximately 1:08 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1.
The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as Joshua Horner, 38.
According to the CHP, officers from the Susanville Area office were dispatched to a solo vehicle traffic collision on Laver Crossing east of Highway 395.
Upon arrival on scene, officers found Horner had been ejected from the vehicle. Medical personnel on scene pronounced him dead. There was a witness to the collision who confirmed there was only one party in the vehicle at the time of the collision.
Initial investigation determined Horner allowed his vehicle to drift off the north side of the roadway where he then over-corrected causing the vehicle to drive off the southside of the roadway and onto the dirt shoulder where the vehicle overturned.
Initial inspection of the car revealed the driver appeared to not have been using his seatbelt at the time of the collision.
Alcohol and drugs have not been ruled out as contributing factors at this stage in the investigation, according to the CHP.
