Afternoon fire burns structures
Tuesday, July 15, 2014 — An afternoon blaze burned through several structures, totaling a garage.
Just before 1 p.m. Sunday, July 6, firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire on N. Lassen Street, according to a press release from the Susanville Fire Department. Upon arrival, the crews found a heavy fire coming from a fully involved garage. The fire extended into an adjacent single-story residence with an attached garage and an adjacent storage unit.
The fire was human-caused, but was unintentional, according to fire captain Mark Ward.
According to the release, the garage and its contents were completely lost, however, the residential structure only sustained moderate fire, heat and smoke damage. The storage unit also sustained moderate damage.
