Vehicle accident sends one to hospital, alcohol may be a factor
Monday, June 16 — The California Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that occurred at approximately 12:55 a.m. Monday, June 16 on Highway 395.
According to a press release, Lynzie Duvaul, 51, of Riverside, was driving northbound on Highway 395, approximately one mile north of County Road A-26.
Fletcher White, 58, of Weed, was traveling southbound at approximately 55 miles per hour.
It is believed, due to her alleged level of intoxication, Duvaul allowed her vehicle to drift into the southbound lane directly into White’s path.
White attempted to take evasive action by turning to the right but was unable to avoid colliding with Duvaul. The left side of the Duvaul’s vehicle collided with the left side of White’s vehicle. The impact caused Duvaul’s Honda to travel off to the east shoulder of the highway, overturn and come to rest on its roof.
White’s vehicle traveled off the west shoulder of the highway where it came to rest in the dirt and sagebrush. He was able to extricate himself while Duvaul was trapped inside her vehicle until fire personnel extricated her. The CHP said, at this time, alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision.
Duvaul was transported to Renown Medical Center with major injuries.
