Tuesday, June 3, 2014 — You know it's coming — the Susanville Symphony Society’s Pops Concert on Friday, June 13 and Sunday, June 15 at the Susanville Assembly of God Church — a highlight and a fan favorite each season.
This is the time to hear the hometown symphony perform music the audience is sure to recognize. But beware, the musicians always have a little surprise for the audience which makes for an invigorating show and a great way to wrap up the Susanville Symphony’s 11th season.
Roger and Hammerstein’s “Sound of Music” surely will trigger some childhood memories. “Schindler’s List,” with a violin solo performed by Carol Laube of the Reno Philharmonic and accompanied by the orchestra, could bring tears to your eyes. “Romeo and Juliet,” the classic overture from Tchaikovsky based on that most famous of the Shakespearean love stories, always brings drama. “Send In The Clowns,” featuring The Three Cellos may return audience members to their first date.
